Veo is proud to call Santa Monica home, both as one of the city’s shared scooter and bike providers and as our company headquarters. Our hearts go out to our staff, riders, and the entire community as we face the challenges brought by the Palisades and Eaton fires. Now is the time that we will need to lean on each other.
As we learned yesterday in the Palisades, cars can quickly create gridlock and block the path of those fleeing the fire and critical access for first responders. Many fleeing the fire had to abandon their cars and evacuate on foot. Additionally, not everyone has access to a car, and many need alternative ways to get around during this emergency. Scooters and bikes provide an important option for residents to evacuate and Veo’s service is available in affected areas of Santa Monica and LA.
Prioritizing Operations that Support Evacuation and Emergency Services
Veo has shifted our operations in Santa Monica and LA to directly support evacuation and keep roads clear for fire and emergency services. This includes maintaining service in and near evacuation areas for residents to ride out to safety, expanding our operational zone to include designated evacuation shelters, and working to keep the right-of-way clear for first responders.
Financially Supporting our Riders
Veo is providing free ride credit and waiving all unlock fees in the LA and Santa Monica service area so users can ride without worrying about price. We have also established “Lucky Zone” parking at evacuation centers to provide further discounts for those riding longer distances.
Veo stands with Santa Monica and will keep these programs and financial incentives in place as long as it takes to keep our community safe. Riders can use code SAFE25 for $10 in credit to get where they need to go.
