The Accessible City

This year’s report focuses on a central question: what does it take to build cities where living without a car is not only possible, but easy?

No single solution can achieve that vision. Building truly accessible cities requires thoughtful street design, reliable transit, and a range of transportation options working together. Micromobility is an important piece of that puzzle.

To build more accessible cities, three priorities stand out:

✅ Increase access with diverse vehicle options: Offering a range of vehicle types — including seated scooters, cargo bikes, and two-seated options — will serve more riders and support a wider variety of trips.

✅ Design streets that work for everyone: Safe, connected bike lanes and well-planned parking corrals create reliable space for riders while keeping sidewalks clear and accessible.

✅  Ensure affordable access: Fair pricing and income-qualified programs are essential to making clean transportation available to people of all incomes.
