That’s exactly what Veo had in mind when we designed the Apollo Cargo—the first free floating shared cargo e-bike in North America. Capable of hauling up to 100 pounds, the Apollo will launch this summer in Washington, D.C. and Columbus, OH.
Why Cargo is the Future of Shared Micromobility
Veo has the most diverse fleet in the industry—seven vehicles and counting—driven by an in-house design team focused on expanding who micromobility serves and what types of trips it can support.
During our user research, one theme kept surfacing: not range anxiety, but cargo anxiety. Cargo anxiety is that moment of hesitation micromobility riders feel when they aren’t sure they can carry what they need: “Will all my groceries fit in my backpack—or do I need to take the car?”
Riders told us they wanted to run errands—but without a way to carry the essentials, they often defaulted to driving or skipped the trip altogether. A scooter with no pannier support meant taking the car for grocery runs. A bike without a rear basket meant skipping the takeout stop. The limiting factor wasn’t micromobility—it was cargo capacity.
So we built the Apollo.
Through interviews, industry feedback, and survey data, the need for cargo capacity rose to the top. In Veo’s latest rider survey, 58% of respondents said they’d ride more often if they could carry groceries or gear.
The Apollo is our answer. With front and rear baskets, pannier compatibility, and throttle-assist for hills and heavy loads, it’s designed to make daily errands possible on two wheels.

Carry up to 100 lbs: With built-in front and rear baskets secured by bungee cords, plus compatibility with standard pannier bags.
Throttle-assist motor: Climb hills and carries cargo with ease—no pedaling required.
Smart display + Veo Voice: A light-up interface shows battery, speed mode, and geofencing info, while on-board audio keeps riders informed of local rules.
Phone holder + Bluetooth speaker: Keeps your phone secure and enables hands-free navigation.
Access is at the Core of How We Design
At Veo, accessibility is built into our fleet. More than half of our vehicles nationwide are seated, offering a more stable and approachable ride for people of diverse ages, abilities, and comfort levels.
The Apollo Cargo builds on that foundation. Its low center of gravity, throttle-assist, and cushioned seat make it easier to balance, easier to start moving, and easier to ride.
It’s also built for the way people live. Women, in particular, are more likely to trip-chain—combining errands, work, and household responsibilities in one trip. The Apollo helps make those routines possible without needing a car.
What’s Next
Veo is working toward a future where 50% of our fleet is cargo-capable by 2030, making shared micromobility a real option for more trip types and more people.
